The
WENO
Story
In 2007, a physician in Castroville, Texas asked if the WENO Healthcare eCommunity could add e-Prescribing to their services. WENO did, but, unfortunately, the company’s e-Prescribing days were short-lived. Like other e-Prescribing networks that had tried to enter a strongly dominated market, WENO Healthcare was not able to provide a vast network of pharmacies to support the prescribers.
In 2009, WENO Healthcare applied to be an Office of the National Coordinator Approved Testing & Certification Body (ONC-ATCB). They were not approved. Part of the application included a knowledge test. Since WENO submitted two separate applications, the knowledge test had to be repeated with different sets of questions. This presented quite the challenge to WENO’s small woman-owned business, as CEO Tina Goodman was the one who had to dig for most of the answers. Regardless, WENO did pass both application knowledge tests. This rigorous and disappointing exercise, proved to be a blessing in disguise, with Goodman emerging as an expert highly trained in EHR certification, testing procedures, and e-Prescribing standards.
WENO Healthcare Inc. became WENO Exchange LLC in a 2014 merger (WENO for short). Today WENO services a variety of partners with solutions that make a real difference in how healthcare information is exchanged.
